Requirements for a VIX Connection

  • Autonomous System (AS) Number:
    VIX participants are required to use their own properly assigned and globally unique AS number for the BGP4 peering sessions in the VIX peering LAN. Each announced AS number in each peering session at VIX must be globally unique, and must be officially assigned and documented by a RIR/LIR (Regional/Local Internet Registry). Furthermore, the participant has to be authorized to announce these AS numbers.
  • IP Address Range:
    The entire announced IP address range in each peering session at VIX must be globally unique, and must be officially assigned and documented by a RIR/LIR. Furthermore, the participant has to be authorized to announce these address ranges.
  • Global Internet Connectivity:
    VIX participants are required to have their AS number and IP address range provided with global Internet connectivity before connecting to VIX.
