The Vienna Internet eXchange has a new logo! If you use the VIX logo on your website or in printed matter, we ask you to integrate the new logo now. It is available in various formats at Media / Downloads.

From July 2019, some price reductions take effect at the VIX. Invoices for existing participants will be automatically adjusted. The fee for a 10G port is lowered to € 500 (from € 550), for a 100G port to € 2500 (from € 3500). All other prices and the 20% dual-site discount remain unchanged.

Since May 2019, a new root DNS server instance is represented at the VIX: The Verisign-operated J-Root server uses - like many other participants - the VIX route servers.

The Vienna Internet eXchange (VIX) is a neutral, redundant, high-performance, high-availability Internet Exchange Point (IXP) with about 150 national and international participants, mainly from the Central and Eastern European Region.  Details

VIX and COVID-19

The VIX team is working from home office since March 16, 2020. Our availability has not changed, however. You can reach us Monday to Friday, 9:00 to 17:00, CET; preferably by e-mail but also by phone (see contact information). In the case of an emergency you may also call us outside our office hours at +43 1 4277-14030 and leave a message. If necessary, we will call back swiftly.

Please do not enter our VIX1 (i.e., NIG) data center except for absolute necessities! Actual physical changes to the infrastructure at VIX1 (NIG) such as new patches or accompanied access need to be arranged well beforehand.

The Vienna Internet eXchange is a founding member of the European Internet Exchange Association (Euro-IX). Euro-IX was launched in May 2001 by Europe's leading Internet Exchange Points (IXPs). IXPs interconnect the networks of Internet Service Providers to enable them to easily and efficiently exchange their Internet traffic.
