Welcome at VIX!
The Vienna Internet eXchange (VIX) is a neutral, redundant, high-performance, high-availability Internet Exchange Point (IXP) with about 150 national and international participants, mainly from the Central and Eastern European Region. Details
VIX and COVID-19
Even though the total traffic volume at the Vienna Internet Exchange has increased by 20% on average since March 10, 2020 (see Traffic Statistics) we are not experiencing any congestion for the time being. In any case we are prepared to increase our infrastructure's capacity if necessary. If you are a VIX participant organization and would like to add bandwidth to your VIX connection, please contact us. We will try to find a solution despite the current exceptional situation.
The complete VIX team is working from home office since March 16, 2020. Our availability has not changed, however. You can reach us Monday to Friday, 9:00 to 17:00, CE(S)T; preferably by e-mail but also by phone (see contact information). In the case of an emergency you may also call us outside our office hours at +43 1 4277-14030 and leave a message. If necessary, we will call back swiftly.
Please do not enter our VIX1 (i.e., NIG) data center except for absolute necessities! Actual physical changes to the infrastructure at VIX1 (NIG) such as new patches or accompanied access need to be arranged well beforehand.
Stay safe, stay healthy and take care!

Newest VIX Participants
Peering Days is an international conference for Internet Service Providers, primarily from Central and Eastern Europe. However, participants (network engineers, peering coordinators, cloud administrators and data center operators) come from across the globe to get access to expert knowledge, make valuable contacts, and be part of a two-day, mind-blowing experience.
The Vienna Internet eXchange is a founding member of the European Internet Exchange Association (Euro-IX). Euro-IX was launched in May 2001 by Europe's leading Internet Exchange Points (IXPs). IXPs interconnect the networks of Internet Service Providers to enable them to easily and efficiently exchange their Internet traffic.
