The Vienna Internet eXchange (VIX) was established 1996 as a basic peering facility at the University of Vienna for primarily Austrian Internet Service Providers (ISPs).
It has grown since then to a redundant, dual-site, high-performance, high-availability Internet Exchange Point (IXP) with national and international participants from the Central and Eastern European Region.
"Now is the time to recognise that sustainable growth of the IPv4-based Internet is coming to an end, and that it is time to move on, with IPv6 as the successor."
A new list is online with carriers, which provide their services at one or both VIX locations.
Our new office is located at Ebendorferstraße 10, 1010 Vienna (left entrance behind doorway), only two minutes away from the NIG (old location)!
IMPORTANT: The official postal address remains Universitätsstraße 7, 1010 Vienna!
The Vienna Internet eXchange is founder member of the European Internet Exchange Association http://www.euro-ix.net/. Euro-IX has been set up by Europe's leading Internet exchange points, which connect the networks of Internet service providers (ISPs) to permit the exchange of Internet traffic.
