"Internet traffic exchange: 2 billion users and it’s done on a handshake"
The CEE Peering Day 2013 was jointly hosted by the Internet Exchange Points NIX.CZ and VIX.at for network engineers and peering coordinators of Internet Service Providers, Cloud and Content Providers and Data Center operators in the Central and Eastern European Region.
Route Servers
The Vienna Internet eXchange offers a redundant set of route servers, which eases peering configuration. The route servers just provide routing information, payload traffic is exchanged directly between the participants. After establishing a BGP session to both route servers and activating them in the web interface, participants may configure default behavior individually and specific per-peer settings using a pleasant web interface for both, IPv4 and IPv6 peerings.
If configured accordingly, traffic will be exchanged automatically also with new participants who have selected an open peering behavior.
Euro-IX Founder Member
The Vienna Internet eXchange is founder member of the European Internet Exchange Association http://www.euro-ix.net/. Euro-IX has been set up by Europe's leading Internet exchange points, which connect the networks of Internet service providers (ISPs) to permit the exchange of Internet traffic.
